St. Mary’s Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church, Sydney is led by The Holy Apostolic Throne of Antioch and All the East and the Malankara Archdiocese of the Syrian Orthodox Church. Our congregation was established in February 2006 under the eminent leadership of Archbishop H. G. Kuriakose Mor Theophelose and the illustrious guidance from H. E. Mor Malatius Malki Malki, Syrian Orthodox Arch bishop in Australia by a bunch of believers who migrated from Kerala, Southern India. Very Rev Fr Zeki Zitoun Corespiscopa, of St Ephraim’s Church took us in his spiritual care and guidance during the initial days of the congregation helping us grow as a devoutly religious and righteous community.
Our congregations saw a visible growth from a few families to its present size. Very Rev. Fr. Peter Velamparambil Cor Episcopa celebrated the first Malayalam Qurbana for the congregation in Sydney on 2nd April 2006 that was attended by over 80 people. Subsequently Rev Fr. Sabu Paulose, Rev Fr. George Vayalipparambil, Rev Fr. Geevarghese Kuzhiyelil, Rev Fr. Joseph Kunnappillil and Rev Fr. Varghese Paul Thombra have served the congregation as its vicars through the years. Currently, we stand as a close knit fraternity under the able leadership of our Vicar Rev Fr. Manish Kuriakose.
Our parish is built upon the devotion and living faith of all its members, who actively partake in the worship and every other spiritual activity of the church.
You are most welcome to join us to live in Christ.
